January's Missionary Spotlight - Meet Janeen Aspden

Janeen Aspden serves with One Mission Society in Haiti as the in-country administrator for Starfish Kids.  Starfish Kids is a child evangelization through education ministry that shares the Gospel with children while providing school sponsorships.  The program is currently partnering with 31 schools in northern Haiti through the Emmaus Fellowship of Churches.  Janeen is working directly with Haitian nationals, training, educating, and giving guidance.  She visits each school, takes photos of children in need of sponsorships, and helps the staff improve communications between sponsors and students.  
God planted a seed in Janeen at an early age, as she was raised by her Christian family in Pennsylvania.  As she grew, she enjoyed serving in different ministries but never felt like she was exactly where God wanted her to be.  That was until God clearly spoke into her heart during a short-term mission trip in February 2014.  Janeen visited Haiti, working with Grace Church’s (her home church) Haiti partner church, Grace en Sion, as well as the Grace en Sion School,  which has sponsorships through the Starfish Kids program. On that trip, she spent an afternoon in the Starfish Kids office, organizing paper work. God broke her heart as she saw all those names and faces of children who were waiting for a sponsor. With an overwhelming desire to stay in Haiti, she finally knew what direction God wanted her to go.

Janeen’s goal is to train the nationals to run Starfish independently.  She helps them by teaching them administration skills.  Her prayer request is for Starfish to have all children that need support to be fully sponsored to continue their Christian education.  Her gift to Starfish is her knowledge and love for the children.

The need is great, and the gift of sponsorship is a lifelong blessing to each child... the gift of the Gospel. 
Starfish Kids is a child evangelism ministry that uses sponsorship and education to share the Gospel with approximately 8,000 children every day. Our 800+ sponsored children receive school books and tuition.  Sponsored children are asked to attend church, and many of their families attend as well.  Sharing the Good News to many in the communities around northern Haiti.


Sponsorship is just $25 a month. You really can make a difference—one child at a time. We have more than 300 children waiting to be sponsored.

12/28/2017 This Christmas, One Mission Society (OMS) – Haiti received a special gift of having the Michel family (Storly, Kate, Hannah, and Esther) celebrate Christmas here at the OMS field compound.   Rev. Storly is the director of Radio 4VEH, and Kate is the director of fundraising, marketing , and communications.   The Michels live in Columbus, Indiana, about 30 miles from OMS headquarters in Greenwood, Indiana, and they travel to Haiti several times a year. Meet our Starfish Staff Madam Jonathan, Pastor Migueloson, Jeneen Aspden Madam Jonathan has a loving husband named Jonathan and two sons, Samuel (12) and Christopher (7). Both boys attend Cowman School. M’ Jonathan has been working with Starfish Kids (SFK) for 12 years. She serves full time, five days a week. Her job is to take photos of the children for sponsorships, order school books, and train the teachers and staff at the schools. Her prayer for the ministry is for many people to support the children.
